Pentathlon

Summary:

The Chinook Pentathlon is usually hosted during the first Sunday in November since High School swim meets still occur on Saturday's. This swim meet allows for up to 5 entries per athlete and is a great introduction to the young new swimmers as they will get the chance to swim the butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, freestyle, and Individual Medley (IM). This swim meet is only 2 sessions.

Volunteer Needs and Expectations:

Off site Volunteer Total: 12

On site Volunteer Total: 36 w/o timers, 60 w/ timers


$100 Donations: 10

Description: Signup for a $100 donation. This is needed so that the Coaches and Officials are feed during the meet.

Shoppers: 2

Description: On the morning of the meet, provide all the snack items from a list that will be provided (produce, drinks...etc). You will be reimbursed for this.


Per Session Requirements

Announcer: 1

Description: You are responsible for announcing the Events and Heats. It is encouraged to bring your personality to the party! The Announcer

Clerk of Course: 1

Description: You are an extension of the Administrative Official (AO). Accept meet payments, check credentials, and other clerical duties. The Clerk of Course

Volunteer Check-in: 2

Description: Ensure all volunteers are checked in and receive lanyards for their positions. You may be re-tasked once the meet starts.

Stager: 5

Description: Ensure swimmers are queued properly by heat and lane assignment. This includes name checking. Think of it like an assembly line to feed the starting blocks!

Timer: 12 (18 with separate Recorders)

Description: At Hazen, there is a fully automatic timing system. Your duty is to provide manual stop watch time to ensure that should a touch pad not record the touch; that your stop watch time can be used.

Backup Timer: 2

Description: Should a Timer stop watch misfire, you will be there to surrender one of your watches in trade. You will start both of your watches just like the Timers do but only stop and reset once the last swimmer in the heat finishes.

Door Marshal: 1

Description: You ensure that only Swimmers, Coaches, Officials, and Volunteers are on the deck.

Deck Marshal: 2

Description: Maintaining safety on deck is your primary task...no horse play! Resource Information

Runner/Awards: 1

Description: After every heat concludes, you'll collect the timers sheets for that heat as well as the paper work from the officials at the starter position. In between you'll be able to help out with labeling awards/ribbons.

Hospitality Attendant: 1

Description: The Coaches and Officials get hungry so we make sure they are fed. You'll make sure the food that is catered is set out in the hospitality room and that snacks/drinks are available.

Hospitality Runner: 1

Description: You'll work closely with the Hospitality Attendant to ensure snacks and drinks are provided to the Coaches, Officials, and Volunteers that are on deck. Usually every 20 minutes.

Volunteer at Large: 1

Description: Short of Announcer and Clerk of Course, you might be asked to help out with any of the above.
