Dear Chinook Families,

Happy New Year!

You've probably already seen a couple of announcements for Chinook's annual Swimathon. I'll try not to repeat those messages. The Swimathon is Chinook's only fundraiser. Its purpose is to raise funds for your swim club and keep training fees down.  95% of the funds raised for the Swim-a-thon stay with Chinook Aquatic Club.

Last year's Swimathon raised over $20,000. While it was a huge success, it could have been better as only half of Chinook's swimmers participated. This year's goal is to have 100% participation. In this year's registration packet, each family agreed that their swimmer(s) would actively participate in the Swimathon or pay $200.

I encourage you to support your swimmer(s) involvement in this year's event. Although this is a fundraising event it is also an opportunity for others to show their support for your child's involvement in swimming.  Swimming is a very positive, healthy activity.  Relatives, family friends, family doctors, and dentists are often eager to show their support for your child's swimming career by sending in a small donation.

Our club has evolved to one of the best, if not the best, values within Pacific Northwest Swimming. Chinook's coaching staff is second to none in terms of experience and commitment to the training of your swimmer(s). Let's keep the momentum going to make Chinook even better.

Sincerely,

Steve Preston
President - Chinook Aquatic Club Board
