Lindbergh (Renton) Pool at Risk of Closing!
The Renton School District is considering closing
the Lindbergh Pool after this current school year. We
need your help!
We need our swim team members to lobby the Renton City
Council and the
Renton School District to find the funding necessary
to support the continued operations at the Lindbergh Pool.
This can be done through written letter or via email, and by
attending city council and
school board meetings to show your support. Here are
the links to the email addresses of the
Renton School District Board of Directors and the
Renton City Council members.
The next Renton City Council meeting will be on
Monday, February 15, at 7 pm at Renton City Hall.
We need to try to get as many people there as we can to show
our support of the pool. If you are able to attend,
please join us and please wear your Chinook apparel.
There will also be a budget meeting for the Renton School
District (and City Council) on Thursday, February
25, at 7 pm at Lindbergh High School. Please
attend to show your support.

Chinook Swim-a-Thon - We're off to a great
start! Thank you to everyone who attended the
letter-writing parties and for those of you who have already
sent letters! We sent out over 800 letters!
The swimming portion of the Swim-a-Thon will be held on
Saturday, March 13, at Newport Hills Swim & Tennis Club.
The swimming part is required of all swimmers, even if you
choose not to participate in the letter-writing portion and
are taking the opt-out instead.
For those who
haven't sent letters yet, please do so soon. Your
coaches will have envelopes for you, and you can download
the letter template off of the Chinook Swim-a-Thon
website. If you've already sent letters and forgot
some people on your list, you're still welcome to send
letters.

Lystedt Law - All swimmers need to turn in
the concussion
parent/athlete form to their coach immediately.
The law was newly enacted in Washington State and deals with
concussion and brain injury in youth sports. It is a
state and PNS requirement that we have a copy on file of a
signed parent/athlete form for each of our athletes.
The
parent/athlete form must be signed by parent and athlete
in order for the athlete to participate in practice and
competition. Please turn the form in to your coach
ASAP. For more information, please click on the
CDC website.
