Swim-a-thon Overview
- How it works this year:
-
Collect
Addresses:
Start collecting your list of people you will ask to be a sponsor. Bring your
list of names and addresses to the letter writing party or start addressing
letters on your own right now
-
Attend Letter Writing Party:
Jan 26th, 2008 - Have a fun time writing sponsor letters (see number 3 below) and eating pizza.
-
Write Sponsor Letters:
Chinook will supply “form letters” that the swimmer completes with the name
of the potential sponsor and the name of the swimmer. Chinook will also
provide two envelopes: a mailing envelope which the swimmer addresses to the
sponsor; and a return envelope pre-addressed to Chinook. The “form
letter” is also available at the Swim-a-thon website. At the “Letter Writing Party”, Chinook will
provide postage for mailing the sponsor letters. After the letter writing
party, swimmers must provide the postage. But… keep writing sponsor
letters until the Swim-a-thon!
Email:
You can also use email to send requests to sponsors. Just download the
“Sponsor Letter” (PDF version) from the Other Info section of the swim-a-thon
website and attach this PDF file with your email to your sponsor.
-
Swim:
Swimmer completes a maximum of 200 lengths at the Swim-a-thon on Mar 8th,
2008. Each swimmer's coach will determine an appropriate goal for the
swimmer.
-
Gift certificates:
Swimmers raising $500 or more will also receive a $50 gift certificate for
every $500 raised.
-
Grand Prize: Chinook will hold a Grand Prize drawing at
the Annual Chinook Banquet (in April). Any swimmer that raises more than $500 will
receive one entry in the Grand Prize drawing for every $500 raised. At the banquet,
one Grand Prize winner will be randomly chosen from the entries. Note that
the winner is determined randomly from the qualifying swimmers (not the
swimmer that raises the most money).
