Become An Official
Some of the most important people for any club are the parents who dedicate themselves to become USA Swimming certified officials. Every swim club has its set of Officials affiliated with that club. That's not to say that you cannot officiate at other swim clubs meets...in fact it happens all the time.It is very important that we have parents of younger swimmers starting the process to become certified.
These are the typical positions for an Official:
- Meet Referee (the top Official)
- Administrative Official
- Deck Referee
- Starting Official
- Stroke & Turn Official
If you are interested in becoming an Official (and we hope you are!), you can get started here: https://officials.pns.org/ Your apprenticeship work can be completed in a little as 4 sessions...not days but sessions!
The required online items/courses needed:
- Athlete Protection Training

It is highly recommended to attend an Orientation Forum (online) which can be found here: https://officials.pns.org/getting-started/clinics/
