Group Descriptions:

Red Group

This group is an introduction to competitive swimming for swimmers at the novice level. This group will emphasize technique for the four strokes (freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke). They will learn streamlining, dives, and turns. Endurance training is not stressed. Practices are offered three times each week and encouraged to attend as many sessions as they are able. Swimmers are encouraged (but not required) to swim in meets and they are monitored for advancement to our next level. Swimmers' ages generally range from 6-11.

White Group

Stroke instruction is predominant with an increasing amount of conditioning, and is presented with a low-key approach. Swimmers are introduced to organized sets and intervals, as well as learning to read the pace clock. Our White group offers five practices each week. Swimmers are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they are able. Swimmers' ages generally range from 9-12.

Blue Group

Blue group swimmers refine the skills taught in the previous groups. The intensity of the workouts is increased with a greater amount of endurance training. Swimmers are introduced to organized sets as part of each practice, as well as setting and achieving goals. Blue group has six practices available per week, and they are encouraged to make at least four of them. Swimmers' ages range generally from 9-13.

Junior Group

The Junior group is intended for advanced age group swimmers as they progress and prepare for senior level swimming. There is continuing emphasis on technique, with a progressive and comprehensive approach to conditioning and race preparation. The Junior group learns about goal-orientation and how it influences training. Their program includes age-appropriate dryland work. Six practices a week are provided, and group members attend as many of those as their schedule allows. Swimmers' ages range generally from 12-15.

Senior Group

Our most advanced group, the Senior swimmers have six sessions per week, with occasional addition of mornings when appropriate and available, as well as dryland work. There is more formalized goal-setting, and comprehensive training with regards to energy systems, muscle groups, and execution. Swimmers attend all practice sessions, except in the case of conflicts or illness. Swimmers' ages range generally from 13-18.
